Websites, mobile applications, social media platforms, sensors, production machinery, financial transactions, healthcare systems, e-commerce applications, and customer relationship management systems are among the primary sources of such data. However, merely collecting data is not sufficient for institutions. Data must be organised, cleaned, analysed, interpreted, and transformed into a form that can be effectively used in decision-making processes.
Big data analytics is a practice-oriented professional field that involves processing and analysing high-volume, rapidly generated, and structurally diverse data obtained from different sources and converting it into meaningful and understandable results. Big data analysts support institutions in evaluating past performance, identifying current problems, forecasting future trends, and making data-driven decisions.
Worldwide, the demand for skills in big data, artificial intelligence, and data analytics is increasing rapidly. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 identifies big data specialists as one of the fastest-growing technology professions expected through 2030. The same report also ranks artificial intelligence and big data among the skills whose importance is increasing most rapidly.
In Türkiye, the development of e-government applications, the growth of electronic commerce, the expansion of financial technologies, the adoption of smart manufacturing systems, and institutions’ increasing focus on digital transformation are driving demand for qualified personnel in the field of data analysis. Decision-making processes in many sectors, including banking, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, telecommunications, energy, education, and public services, are becoming increasingly data-driven.
The Big Data Analytics Program aims to train technically qualified personnel with the practical skills required to collect and organise data, store it in databases, perform analyses, create visualisations, and transform the resulting findings into clear and comprehensible reports.
The program is designed not only for students interested in computer technologies but also for those who wish to develop their numerical reasoning, problem-solving, research, interpretation, and cause-and-effect analysis skills. Success in the field of big data analytics requires not only knowledge of programming and statistics but also careful working habits, an emphasis on data quality, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate results accurately and clearly.
